A clumber from the Himalayas with light leaves on light green to blue green canes.Canes will turn a reddish tone if exposed to sun. Grows to 12′ tall in the Bay Area. Doesbest in half-day sun.

Similar to Drepanostachyum sengteeanum except the culms are dark green and leavesare a smoky green. This bamboo flowered in 2006 after D. sengteeanum. The plant wasbrought into the country by our dear friend Gerald Bol, who cultivated it from seed. Ithas grown to about 7′ tall here in the North Bay. It likes morning sun or dappled light.Definitely needs afternoon shade where it gets over 80 degrees F.

The only species native to South Africa, this bamboo was used by the indigenouspeoples to make shields, arrows and spears. Canes retain their white sheaths creatingwhite canes with green patterns where the cane shows through. Grows to about 15′ inthe Bay Area.
