A native of India, long slender canes make it useful for weaving mats and basketry. Itdoes better in some shade. Y. anceps has an upright habit with heavy foliage on narrowcanes, creating a weeping top.

Named for a garden in England, Pitt White is a much taller cultivar with slightly smallerleaves, but still has the dramatic weeping habit. Y. anceps is an open clumper, meaningit is a long necked clumper, spreading slowly.

An erect bamboo with nice dark green culms and leaves. Does well in dappled light tomorning sun. Grows up to 16’ and nearly an inch in diameter. Can be kept to 6’ bypruning the culms.
